- Reading Benchmark tests to see where your child is reading. I will share this info with you at conferences.
- Cooperative Learning with partners. We're learning how to write books in Writer's Workshop and we're learning what it takes to be good writers. Cooperative Learning helps us Synergize what we're learning and focus on what to do next.
- We've been graphing families, M and M's and Smarties. Yum!
- We had our pictures taken by Lifetouch. Everyone did very well. I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.
- We've been learning about Nocturnal animals and Day/Night. We're learning that as the earth turns, each section falls into darkness at a different time. Some kids are awake while others in the world are asleep!
- Our behavior on the playground is improving also. We're learning safe, creative ways to play that don't involve touching others.
Things to note for next week:
Monday is D day: Library books due
Tuesday is E day: Kindergarten's last day this week, but not the last day for 1-5th grade. As a result we will lose A day on Wednesday. After conferences we will start up with B day.
I'll see you at Conferences, I have so many positive things to share with you. I know you'll leave smiling from ear to ear.
Things to note coming up the rest of the month:
- Scarecrow party on Thursday the 28th. We have several moms signed up to volunteer for the 2 hour party, but we can still use one or two more. Please let me know if you can make it. No need to plan anything, just show up and run a station. Dress like a scarecrow if you can! I have an ugly sweater I'm planning on wearing...
- Halloween party on Friday the 29th. Your child can come to school wearing his/her costume. If it's hot or itchy, please just bring it in a bag and we'll change around 1:45. Parade at 2:00 and class party at 2:30. If you want to help, please let me know and I'll pass your name along to Jeanie Scott.
