Events in January and February

Hi Moms and Dads,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Thank you to all who contributed to my gift from the class. Your gift card was a perfect gift and I will use it to help purchase a double stroller for my growing family!
This month marks the beginning of 2nd semester. I love this time of year because it always seems like the "learning fairy" sprinkled growing powder on your Kindergarteners over break and they come back ready to learn, ready to write and most of all, ready to READ! It's my favorite time of year.
We will start back up with reading groups Monday and you should see a return to normalcy with reading envelope homework and sight word homework. As your children finish up Kindergarten sight words and written sentences, we will move them on to 1st grade words to give them a leg up for next year. Our hope is by the end of the year most students will be ready for 1st grade words.
We have some important events coming up in the next few weeks. You may want to mark these on your calendar.
Events:
January 17th-No School. MLK jr. Day
January 21st-P/T conference forms come home
January 28th-Kansas Day Party
January 28th-Scholastic Book Orders due to me or online
February 3rd- 100th day of school
February 9th and 10th-P/T conferences
February 11th-No School. Teacher Work Day
February 14th-Valentine's Day party
February 21st-No School. President's Day

We are looking for more volunteers for our Kansas Day party. Right now I have two moms down to help. Can you help us out? The party will last from 10:30-11:30 and again from 12:30-1:30. If you can't stay for the whole party we'd be happy to have you for any portion of the times listed above. Come in your best Cowboy/Cowgirl costume and be ready for some hootin'any good times!
Thanks!
Mrs. Peterson
